Connecting your email platform

A few minutes to invite ShelfSignal as a collaborator on your own account, so newsletters still send from you, under your name, to your list.

Before you start

  • We only ever request the lowest access role that can send campaigns, never Owner, Admin, or billing access.
  • You can revoke access from your platform's settings at any time, no need to contact us first.
  • We don't export, download, or store a copy of your subscriber list. We work inside your account.
  • Every newsletter is drafted and checked before anything reaches your list.

Pick your platform

MailerLite

Invite role: Manager
  1. Log in and go to Account settings → Users.
  2. Click Add new user.
  3. Enter owen@bookshelfsignal.com as the email address.
  4. Under user type, choose Manager. This gives full campaign, subscriber, and automation access but blocks subscriber exports, billing, and adding/removing other users.
  5. Click Invite user to join. We'll accept the invite and confirm at kickoff.
Note: free MailerLite accounts are limited to two total users, which is enough for you and ShelfSignal. If you're already at that limit, upgrading a tier unlocks more seats.

Kit (formerly ConvertKit)

Invite as: Team member
  1. Click your account name in the top-right corner.
  2. Go to Settings → Team.
  3. Click Invite a team member.
  4. Enter owen@bookshelfsignal.com and send the invite.
Note: team invites are a Creator Pro plan feature. If you're on a lower Kit plan, email us at owen@bookshelfsignal.com and we'll set up a temporary shared login instead, one you can change the password on the moment kickoff is done.

Flodesk

Invite role: Manager
  1. Go to Account Settings → Team members.
  2. Click Invite member on the Team card.
  3. Enter owen@bookshelfsignal.com.
  4. Choose the Manager role. It can edit and send campaigns and view data, but can't touch billing or manage other users.
  5. Click Invite.
Note: Flodesk trial accounts can't invite collaborators, this only works once you're on a paid plan.

Mailchimp

Invite role: Manager
  1. Click your profile icon and choose Account & billing.
  2. Open the Settings dropdown and select Users.
  3. Click Invite A User.
  4. Enter owen@bookshelfsignal.com and set the role to Manager, the lowest role that can still create and send campaigns. It can't touch billing, exports, or close the account.
  5. Click Send Invite.
Note: the invite link expires after 7 days, so let us know if it lapses and we'll ask you to resend it.

Using something else?

Beehiiv, Substack, Klaviyo, and a few other platforms all support inviting a collaborator or team member in a very similar way, usually under an "Account" or "Team" settings menu.

Email us at owen@bookshelfsignal.com with the name of your platform. We'll look up that platform's exact process and send you back numbered steps in the same format as the guides above, role to grant included, usually within one business day.
